Taking Flight

A few weeks ago, one night after dinner, I took a walk around the neighborhood with my dad. On the street, next to the curb, I suddenly noticed a bird struggling to keep one step in front of us. It kept hopping along & fluttering its wings, trying to clear the curb to create more distance between us and it, but unable to do so. After multiple attempts, the bird finally jumped high enough and continued

hopping along, further into the grass and away from us. Concerned, I immediately said “Oh no! Something’s wrong!” My dad insisted no, that’s a baby bird who just flew from its nest. I said “Are you sure? It’s not hurt?!” He said “No, she just can’t get her wings working…tomorrow she’ll be soaring.” Some times we’re beginners, and some times we forget how to use our wings. That has no bearing on our ability to fly tomorrow. ❤
